“Tell me about it”不是“告诉我那件事”！老外根本不想听……

听到歪果仁说：“Tell me about it!”的时候

千万不要以为老外想了解事件情况

随即开始巴拉巴拉的滔滔不绝起来

这句话的含义还真不是快告诉我那件事

今天学完，再也别犯这种尴尬的错误啦~

Tell me about it

先来看下剑桥词典对这个表达的解释：

used to say that you feel the same way or have had the same experience.

通常用于表达相同的感受或相似的经历

所以，这个短语表达的语气更多是一种认可

对方对你所说的话有相同的经历或感受

可以理解为 “就是啊，你说得对，可不是嘛！”

之前《老友记》中就出现过这种用法

例句：

Rachel: Ohh, I mean, we were really drunk. I'm just glad we didn't do anything stupid. 

我们真的醉得很厉害，幸好没干什么蠢事。 

Ross: Tell me about it. 

可不是嘛。

拓展

★一个小拓展1：

表示感同身受，赞同观点还可以怎么说？

 You're telling me! 你说的太对了！

My point exactly. 这也是我想说的。

You can say that again. 你说的没错。

Now you are talking.正合我意，我同意。

★一个小拓展2：

如果真的是想听对方讲下去怎么说？

Don't tell me

这个表达确实有“别告诉我”的意思

但这是建立在后面接从句的时候

例句：

Don't tell me you were late again! 

别告诉我你又迟到了！

如果“Don't tell me!”独立使用

它表达的意思则是“我才不信呢”

相当于“I can't believe”，表示对对方说法的怀疑

例句：

A：This product has magical function.

A：这个产品有神奇的功效。

B：Don't tell me.

B：我才不信呢！

Tell on

这个短语的真实含义还真不太好猜

来看下英文释义：

to give information about someone, usually something bad that they have said or done, especially to a person in authority.

向某人提供信息告发不正当之事

也就是说，“Tell on”=“告发，检举”

例句：

Many people told on their neighbours to the secret police. 

许多人向秘密警察告发自己的邻居。

Talk like a nut

直译为：像一个坚果在说话？

当然不对啦！nut除了坚果，还有另外一层意思

表示“疯子，脑子有问题，怪人”

so，Talk like a nut=像疯子一样说话，说蠢话

例句：

She started talking like a nut half way through the debate.

她在辩论一半的时候开始胡言乱语。

Money talks

钱还会说话？其实可以理解为“钱说的算”

也就是我们常说的“金钱万能；有钱能使鬼推磨”

例句：

And especially in today's IT world, money talks. 

在当今IT世界，钱说了算。

Talk big

这个短语也比较好理解

话说大了就是“吹牛，说大话”啦 

例句：

We dislike those who talk big and do nothing. 

我们不喜欢那种夸夸其谈，不干实事的人。
