Extreme sports such as skydiving and skiing are very dangerous and should be banned. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion？

题目解读

极限运动存在一定的风险，但是禁止极限运动并不可取。这项运动本身有一定好处，能够让人们挑战极限、释放压力、克服恐惧、建立信心，这也是极限运动受到欢迎的原因。禁止人们从事极限运动必然遭到很多人反对，因为侵犯了人们做选择的自由和权利。对于极限运动，比较合理的做法是做好风险防范和保护措施，而不是完全禁止此类活动。

Some activities, such as skydiving and skiing, are classified as “dangerous sports” because of their potential risks. While some people suggest these sports should be banned, I hold a different view on this issue.

Firstly, banning extreme sports is unreasonable as engaging in these sports provides an effective way for people to alleviate stress, conquer fears and boost self-confidence. As participants take on challenging tasks, they shift their attention away from daily routines towards these stimulating activities. The risks associated with extreme sports stimulate the release of various chemicals in the body that make them excited. When individuals realize they have conquered their inner fears, they develop a strong sense of confidence.

Also, prohibiting dangerous sports infringes on people’s freedom to pursue activities they enjoy. Many adults who engage in extreme sports are well aware of the risks involved, and they can make informed decisions about whether to participate or not. Denying them this choice contradicts the principles of personal freedom and responsibility. It's important to respect individuals' autonomy in deciding to take part in these activities, as they have the capacity to weigh the risks and benefits for themselves.   

The main opposition to extreme sports is the concern that these activities pose a threat to participants’ safety. In the event of an accident, players may suffer serious injuries or even lose their lives. While this concern has merit, it does not mean we should ban extreme sports. What we need is to implement proper safety measures and regulations to protect participants’ safety.

To summarize, instead of imposing an outright ban, we should strike a balance between keeping people safe and allowing them to enjoy the benefits of extreme sports.
